Notes: |
I was traveling East on University Avenue at Fairview Avenue in St. Paul, MN, when the hail began. As I traveled further East, the hail stones grew in size with the largest stones near Hamline Avenue. The swath of the hail shaft was about 1 mile. The hail was accompanied by heavy rain and minor street flooding was occurring.
About an hour later a second storm cell produced what appeared to be sleet or snow. Witnesses told me it was another hail storm, but the pellets seemed to be much smaller. I did not experience the second storm, but it occurred by KSTP TV, so I'm sure one of the Meteorologists working there documented it. |
