Hail pad 7 inches by 7 inches placed shortly after hail began. Darkness precluded angle observation and preliminary damage assessment. Approximately 25 BB sized dents in each of four quadrants of the aluminum pan. Thunder audible 7:46 PM, rain started 8:03 PM, hail started 8:05 PM, hail ended 8:07 PM, light rain falling now at 8:31 PM. edit::the largest hail measured prior to melting was ~1", most hail stones appeared pea sized with some marble sized and melted quickly. 26SEP excess green leaves on ground and pavement. One storm drain grate inlet in the parking lot (2 feet by 3 feet) was covered in freshly fallen mostly green leaves. One small bucket of green/brown wet leaves, few pine needles, and acorn matter weighing 4 pounds and 2 ounces removed from this grate today. Other recent storm damaged signs and fallen branches attributed to bad weather but probably not directly related to this hail event. |
